HBO’s Cable Channels Begin Streaming on Max(HBO의 케이블 채널이 Max에서 스트리밍)

케이블TV의 자존심 HBO가 스트리밍에 들어왔다.

워너브러더스디스커버리(Warner Bros. Discovery)는 스트리밍 맥스(Max)에 HBO의 케이블TV 라이브 채널을 포함시켰다. 과거 CNN의 라이브 채널을 맥스에 방송했었지만, HBO의 케이블TV 채널이 맥스에 포함되기는 이번이 처음이다. HBO 라이브 케이블TV채널들은 맥스 광고 없는 요금제 가입자들에게 제공된다.

미국 스트리밍 서비스들은 케이블TV 라이브 채널을 잇달아 포함하고 있다. 맥스(MAX)에 앞서 디즈니+(Disney+)도 ESPN+의 라이브 채널을 포함했고 파라마운트(Paramount)도 파라마운트+에 다른 스트리밍 쇼타임을 탑재한 바 있다.

Warner Bros. Discovery has added HBO's cable TV live channels to its streaming service Max. While CNN's live channels have been broadcast on Max in the past, this is the first time HBO's cable channels have been included. HBO's live cable channels will be available to Max subscribers with an ad-free plan.
U.S. streaming services continue to include live cable TV channels. Prior to MAX, Disney+ included live channels from ESPN+ and Paramount included other streaming Showtime on Paramount+.

이번 HBO 채널들의 맥스 진출은 의미가 크다.

HBO의 케이블 운영과 Max 간의 장벽이 더욱 무너졌다는 의미이기 때문이다. 사용자들은 맥스(Max) 앱에서 HBO의 다양한 채널을 채널 서핑할 수 있게 됐다. 때문에 굳이 HBO를 보기 위해 케이블TV를 이용하지 않아도 된다.

맥스의 채널 기능은 케이블TV와 유사하다.  채널 기능을 통해 맥스(Max) 사용자는 메인 HBO 채널의 실시간 프로그램와 함께 HBO 2, HBO 시그니처, HBO 코미디, HBO 존 채널을 시청할 수 있다.  구독자는 해당 채널을 다시 시작, 되감기, 빨리 감기할 수 있으며 일부 기기에서는 맥스(Max) 앱 내에서 채널 간 이동도 가능하다.

맥스 이용자들은 메뉴 화면을 스크롤하는 대신 HBO 전용 프로그램 가이드(EPG)를 클릭해 현재 방송 중인 프로그램을 확인할 수도 있다. 때문에 '현재 방송 중' 등에 의존해야 하는 문제를 해결할 수 있다.

HBO의 라이브 프로그램은 이미 맥스(Max)에서 이용할 수 있지만, 채널은 사용자가 프로그램을 찾을 수 있는 또 다른 방법을 제공할 수 있다.

The addition of HBO channels to Max is significant.

It means that the barrier between HBO's cable operations and Max has been further broken down. Users will be able to channel surf HBO's many channels in the Max app, so they won't have to subscribe to cable to watch HBO.

Max's Channels feature is similar to cable TV. With the Channels feature, Max users can watch HBO 2, HBO Signature, HBO Comedy, and HBO Zone channels along with live programming from the main HBO channel. Subscribers can resume, rewind, and fast-forward through these channels, and on select devices, they can also jump between channels within the Max app.

Instead of scrolling through the menu screen, you can also click on the HBO-only program guide (EPG) to see what's currently airing. HBO's live programming is already available in Max, but the channel can provide another way for users to find it.
