CJ ENM Marks 30th Anniversary with Record-High Investment to Tackle Content Market Challenges

CJ ENM, celebrating its 30th anniversary this year, is set to forge ahead in the increasingly competitive content market by announcing its largest-ever investment plan. At “CJ ENM Content Talk 2025,” held on February 10 at CJ ENM’s Sangam headquarters in Seoul, CEO Yoon Sang-hyun unveiled the company’s content strategy and extensive lineup for the coming year.
“CJ ENM has historically invested around 1 trillion KRW annually in content,” Yoon said. “This year, we will expand that by an additional 150 billion KRW, and introduce our largest slate yet—65 new productions. Despite the challenging environment, we aim to break through rather than scale back.”
Global IP “Power House” Ambitions
With competition ramping up, CJ ENM is maintaining an aggressive stance to navigate any headwinds in the content industry.
“We’ve faced difficult times over the past 30 years, but we’ve always stayed the course,” Yoon commented. “We’ll strengthen our competitive edge by producing more projects and taking creative risks, ultimately bolstering our reputation for top-tier content.”
In particular, CJ ENM views 2025 as a pivotal year for global expansion. Yoon highlighted the importance of harnessing AI for advanced production systems and accelerating the company’s intellectual property (IP) reach. Collaborations with international partners—especially in the United States, Japan, and Southeast Asia—are at the core of its strategy. By working with local studios and talent, CJ ENM aims to create regionally resonant content and more effectively connect with audiences worldwide.
“Our goal,” Yoon added, “is to consolidate CJ ENM’s position as a global IP powerhouse, driving the content ecosystem through our advanced production capabilities and industry partnerships.”

TVN Ramps Up Drama Lineup, TVING Goes Global
TV channel tvN plans to reintroduce a Wednesday-Thursday drama slot and produce more dramas this year than any single Korean platform has attempted.
Upcoming titles include Someday, A Wise Medical Intern Life, That Guy’s Dark Flame Dragon, Potato Research Institute, Divorce Insurance, Please Stop Me From Drinking, Unknown Seoul, Gyeonwoo and the Fairy, Seocho-dong, and The Tyrant’s Chef. Additionally, Signal 2—the sequel to the hit drama after a ten-year hiatus—has been confirmed.
tvN’s variety show offerings will diversify as well, with programs such as Sixth Sense: City Tour, Edward Lee’s Country Cook, Everything About the Stars 2, Sisters’ Direct-to-Farm 3, Business Genius Baek 3, and Iron Girls 2 slated for release. A new project from renowned producer Na Young-seok is also in development.
Meanwhile, CJ ENM’s streaming platform TVING will accelerate its global expansion in 2025. Spinoff series based on CJ ENM’s popular IP will be a key focus, including Won-gyeong: Dan-oh’s Story, a prequel to the tvN–TVING original drama Won-gyeong.
Driving the Korean Content Ecosystem
Yoon reiterated CJ ENM’s resolve to “lead the K-content production ecosystem with state-of-the-art systems,” underscoring the company’s commitment to big-budget projects, cross-border collaborations, and a steady flow of diverse programming. By strengthening its global foothold and embracing technological innovation, CJ ENM plans to continue evolving as a major force in the worldwide content arena.
“We aim to solidify CJ ENM’s status as a global IP powerhouse,” Yoon concluded, “while pioneering new ways to reach and captivate audiences everywhere.”
