Record-Breaking AI Funding in Q4 2024

The fourth quarter of 2024 saw unprecedented levels of venture funding for AI startups, with investors pouring nearly $20.9 billion into the sector. This amount represents more than a fourfold increase compared to the same period in the previous year. The surge was largely driven by three mega-deals:

  1. OpenAI's $6.6 billion funding round in October
  2. Anthropic's $4 billion infusion in November
  3. xAI's $6 billion funding round in December

Even excluding deals of $1 billion or more, funding in the fourth quarter rose 45% year-over-year, indicating broad-based growth in AI investments.
